2024/09/19-23 Ryota Sakurai, Exhibition

From Thursday, September 19 to Monday, September 23, 2024, we held a five-day joint exhibition featuring Ryota Sakurai’s photography in collaboration with clothing brand “PERIOD FEATURES.”

The venue was L’ECHOPPE’s Aoyama store.

This was Ryota Sakurai’s first-ever photography exhibition.

Standing at the storefront during the exhibition, we had the pleasure of meeting many people.

There were those who gazed intently at the photos and walked around the exhibition space multiple times; those who told us, “I saw it from outside and couldn’t help but come in”; those who asked questions; those who shared their impressions joyfully; those who offered their opinions; and those who filled out the comment book…

Prior to this, Ryota Sakurai had been posting photos on Instagram and sharing his work with others. However, having others view his physical photographs right before his eyes was a experience full of discoveries, making him realize how his photos were perceived and how others felt about them.

Following this photo exhibition, which became a reality in an entirely unexpected way, Ryota Sakurai set aside about a year to reflect on himself and his work. That period culminated in 2026 with the Artist Statement “Interval” and led to his next project, “Between Here and There.”
